Coast Town – Historical Film

Harrington Festival proudly presents prize winning historical film Coast Town. Featuring Clarry Towers, Dot Fields, Jack Ericson, the Crowdy boys and many others.
Coast Town is a prize- winning film made in 1939, showcasing life in Harrington and Crowdy Head using local talent. It was praised by the judges for its unpretentiousness and beautiful photography.
Coast Town won the first National competition run by the Australian Amateur Cinema Society for films referencing Australian life. Its prize, a gold cup, was donated by the Society member, Bondi bookmaker James Sherlock.
The film was shown in 1941 at the Wingham Memorial Town Hall as part of the fundraiser for the Harrington Soldiers’ Comfort Fund.
Admission is a gold coin.
